## Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Vehicle Trimmer to join our team and deliver high-quality interior trim work across a range of vehicles. This role involves the installation, repair, and replacement of vehicle interiors including seats, linings, door trims, and floor coverings. The ideal candidate will bring strong craftsmanship, a keen eye for detail, and proven experience working with a variety of materials including fabric, vinyl, and leather. You will be expected to work efficiently to a high standard, ensuring every vehicle leaving the workshop reflects exceptional finish and quality.
## Key Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicle trim work in accordance with drawings, sketches, and customer specifications, ensuring accuracy prior to installation
- Remove existing trim components, coverings, and fittings from vehicles, taking precise measurements to guide replacement work
- Select, mark, and cut fabric, vinyl, leather, and other materials to the required shapes and dimensions
- Operate heavy-duty industrial sewing machines to join and stitch trim pieces, ensuring clean, durable seams and finishes
- Install interior components including headliners, seat covers, floor coverings, armrests, and pillar linings to manufacturer or custom standards
- Fit and secure door trims, rubber seals, window surrounds, handles, and locking mechanisms with precision
- Repair and restore damaged or worn trim components, matching original materials and finishes where possible
- Liaise with customers and supervisors to understand requirements, provide progress updates, and ensure satisfaction with completed work
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment in compliance with workplace health and safety guidelines
- Manage and monitor trim materials and supplies, flagging stock replenishment needs as required
- Inspect completed trim work thoroughly before vehicle handover, rectifying any defects or inconsistencies
- Stay informed of new materials, techniques, and industry developments to continuously improve the quality of workmanship
## Required Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience as a Vehicle Trimmer or in a similar automotive upholstery role
- Proficiency in operating industrial sewing machines and hand stitching techniques
- Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of materials including leather, vinyl, fabric, and foam
- Strong capability in reading and interpreting technical drawings, patterns, and customer briefs
- Solid understanding of vehicle interior components and their correct fitting and finishing procedures
- High attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality, consistent work
- Good manual dexterity and the physical capability to carry out tasks in confined spaces
- Ability to manage time effectively and work both independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices relevant to a workshop environment
- A current, valid driver's licence
## Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship or trade qualification in vehicle trimming or automotive upholstery
- Experience working on specialty, luxury, classic, or custom vehicles
- Familiarity with computerised cutting or pattern-making equipment
- Knowledge of marine, aviation, or commercial vehicle trimming
- First aid certification or white card (construction induction)
