Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Manual Laborer to join our team at our scrap metal yard. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, be comfortable working in a physically demanding environment, and take pride in contributing to an efficient recycling process. As a Manual Laborer, you will be responsible for sorting, processing, and organizing various types of scrap metal, assisting customers with unloading metals, and ensuring accurate scrap weighing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sort and separate different types of scrap metal (e.g., aluminum, copper, steel, lead, etc.) to ensure proper recycling procedures.
- Assist customers in unloading their scrap metal and provide friendly, efficient service.
- Weigh incoming scrap metal and document weight and type for accurate transactions.
- Operate machinery, such as forklifts and excavators, to move large metal pieces and load/unload materials.
- Maintain an organized and clean work environment, keeping the yard free of hazards.
- Perform routine inspections of equipment to ensure they are functioning properly.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots.
- Assist with manual tasks such as cutting or dismantling large metal objects as required.
- Work as part of a team to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Perform general yard maintenance duties, such as sweeping and removing debris.
Job Type: Casual
Pay: $30.00 – $40.00 per hour
