Assistant Manager – Lynora Downs Cropping

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to support our Farm Manager on our Lynora Downs broadacre cropping property in Central Queensland. This role will be suitable for someone who has experience in cropping (ideally cotton) and is experienced in managing small teams of staff.

Reporting to the Farm Manager, you will be responsible to:
- Provide farm management cover in the absence of the Farm Manager

Crop establishment including bed preparation, fertilising, sowing and cultivation

Irrigation coordination, implementation and maintenance

Crop management including herbicide and pesticide application

Operation of broadacre farming plant and equipment including airseeder, precision plant and self-propelled spray unit

General farm duties including repair and maintenance

Oversee the implementation and embedding of the digital safety platform and safety processes on farm

Contribute to a positive and productive working environment

Promote a strong safety culture by demonstrating safe work practices and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures

Identify training needs and support the development of team members

Contribute to the continuous improvement of farming systems, operational processes, and environmental and safety outcomes

Ensure accurate records are maintained for development and operational inputs, maintenance activities, chemical applications, fertiliser programs, irrigation, safety requirements, payroll and cost allocation timesheets
- Valid C Class Driver’s Licence

You will have extensive broadacre cropping experience. Experience with cotton and siphon and pivot irrigation is preferred

You will have a proven track record of operating the machinery listed and have sound mechanical knowledge

Experience managing teams, including employees, labour hire personnel and contractors

Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel for budgeting and reporting

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Excellent organisational and time management skills, with strong attention to detail

Current Chemical Certificate
