We’re looking for an experienced Optical Dispenser to join a busy Sydney optical practice on a casual basis.
This opportunity would suit a dispenser who is confident working across the full dispensing process, enjoys working directly with patients and can manage their own workload with minimal supervision.
You’ll be involved in everything from helping patients find the right frame and lens solution through to measurements, ordering, fitting and any follow-up adjustments required.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Discussing prescriptions and recommending suitable lens options
- Helping patients select frames based on their prescription and individual needs
- Taking accurate PDs, fitting heights and other measurements
- Processing and checking optical orders
- Completing fittings, adjustments and repairs
- Managing a range of dispensing requirements
- Identifying and resolving fitting or dispensing issues
- Liaising with optometrists where required
- Providing friendly, knowledgeable and professional patient service
About You
You’ll be a good fit for the role if you have:
- Previous experience in optical dispensing, ideally 2–3+ years
- Strong knowledge of prescriptions, lenses and frame fitting
- Confidence handling dispensing independently
- Excellent attention to detail and measurement accuracy
- Good communication and customer service skills
- The ability to stay organised and manage your time effectively
- A practical approach to problem solving
- The flexibility to work casual shifts based on availability and practice requirements
