Role description
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Food Production Team Leader to provide day-to-day leadership and operational oversight of the Food Production team at our Castlemaine Campus. This hands-on role combines leadership responsibilities with active participation in food production operations, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality food services while fostering a positive and collaborative team culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and actively participate in food production activities as required.

Coordinate staffing requirements, including replacement of staff for planned and unplanned absences.

Ability to step in and cover Cook and FSA shifts when no replacement is available.

Maintain accurate rostering and workforce records using Kronos.

Organise, facilitate and document regular team meetings, including agendas, minutes and action plans.

Participate in recruitment, selection and onboarding of Food Production staff.

Deliver induction programs and ensure all employment documentation is completed and submitted appropriately.

Assist with staff performance development and annual appraisal processes.

Foster a positive workplace culture and effectively manage conflict resolution in consultation with the Food Production Manager

Manage stock ordering, receipting and inventory control, ensuring storage areas are maintained to a high standard.

Monitor and review production schedules to ensure service requirements are met efficiently and safely.

Support continuous staff training and competency development, including food safety, hygiene and equipment operation.

Ensure compliance with food safety legislation, Food Safety Plans, workplace health and safety requirements, and organisational policies.

Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and support safe work practices across the department.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, equipment evaluation and purchasing recommendations.

Undertake other duties as reasonably directed by the Food Production Manager, Food Production Manager or Director Support Services.
About you

Previous experience in food production, hospitality, health services, commercial catering or a similar environment.

Proven leadership and team coordination skills.

Strong organisational and time-management abilities.

Knowledge of food safety standards, infection control and workplace health and safety requirements.
