Role Overview:
As our Maintenance Officer reporting to our Group Chief Engineer, you will be part of our hotel’s maintenance team, responsible for ensuring that the hotel remains in perfect working order. You’ll carry out general repairs and maintenance tasks across the hotel, ensuring all facilities are functioning seamlessly for our guests and staff. Your hands-on approach will help maintain the hotel’s appearance and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general maintenance and repair tasks including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, and HVAC maintenance.
- Respond quickly to guest and team maintenance requests, ensuring all issues are addressed promptly and efficiently.
- Conduct routine inspections of the hotel’s facilities and equipment, identifying areas in need of attention or improvement.
- Assist in setting up, maintaining, and repairing hotel systems and equipment to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, adhering to all safety and compliance standards.
- Work closely with the housekeeping and front office teams to resolve maintenance issues that impact guest experience.
- Proactively monitor and address potential maintenance concerns before they affect hotel operations.
- Support with emergency maintenance as needed, ensuring safety and regulatory standards are met.
- Acting as the department leader in the absence of the Group Chief Engineer and providing hands-on technical support when required.
What We’re Looking For:
- Full working rights in Australia without restrictions.
- Proven experience in a similar maintenance or handyperson role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge and experience in general maintenance (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.).
- A restricted electrical qualification and/or test & tag certificate would be highly regarded.
- Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain systems and equipment in a timely manner.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented approach to maintenance tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable attitude.
- A commitment to safety standards and attention to detail.
- The days required for this role is for Tuesday to Saturday but must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, and holidays if required.
