Job Description – NeuroCoach (Support Worker – Intervention Model)
Aus Able Disability Services is seeking experienced and qualified Support Workers to join our team as NeuroCoaches within a structured, intervention-based environment.
This is not a traditional support role.
We are building an Intervention School model where the focus is on developing life skills, independence, and nervous system regulation. Our goal is to reduce long-term reliance on support by actively teaching participants how to function in their day-to-day lives.
Role Overview
As a NeuroCoach, your role is to build life skills, not provide supervision.
You will work directly with participants to:
- Develop independence in daily living
- Support emotional and behavioural regulation
- Deliver structured, purpose-driven activities
This role requires initiative, awareness, and the ability to think and act with purpose at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver structured, goal-oriented support aligned with participant care plans
- Teach and guide participants in life skills, including:
- Cooking and meal preparation
- Eating and self-care routines
- Personal hygiene and daily living tasks
- Cleaning, organisation, and domestic skills
- Community access and real-world skill development
- Apply a coaching approach:
- Guide participants step-by-step
- Encourage independence
- Avoid doing tasks for participants
- Support nervous system regulation through calm, structured interactions
- Follow structured systems including:
- Visual supports
- Goal tracking (“My Future Matters”)
- Daily program routines
- Complete all required documentation:
- Progress notes
- Incident reports
Important Role Expectations
- This is not a babysitting or supervision role
- Every activity must have a clear purpose linked to life skill development
- You must be able to work under pressure in a structured and active environment
- You are expected to think, adapt, and respond, not wait to be directed
Requirements (Mandatory)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Support Worker (NDIS/disability sector)
- Relevant qualifications in:
- Individual Support
- Disability
- Community Services
(or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of:
- Autism and behavioural support
- Person-centred approaches
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working With Children Check (if applicable)
- Valid Driver’s Licence
Highly Valued
- Background or studies in:
- Psychology
- Health Science
- Occupational Therapy
- Behavioural Science
- Strong common sense and ability to make practical decisions
- Ability to remain calm, structured, and consistent
