Primary objective
Manage the development and delivery of Capital Works, Minor New Works and Repairs and Maintenance civil projects for
the Alice Springs Region, ensuring projects are delivered as defined by clients. Provide high level professional advice to
senior management on the management of the civil assets and projects throughout the Alice Springs Region.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high level management to regional teams responsible for the development and implementation of roads and civil
works programs in the Alice Springs Region.
2. Provide high level professional advice to senior management on the management of civil assets and projects throughout
the Alice Springs Region.
3. Manage the design, planning and delivery of civil works programs and projects in the Alice Springs Region.
4. Provide high level expert advice to and liaise with client agencies at the senior level on the development of the client’s
functional brief for major projects. Clarify needs, scope, funding, and other special requirements.
5. Carry out all duties in accordance with Departmental WHS, EEO and environmental guidelines.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Recognised tertiary qualification in Engineering, and registration, or eligibility for registration, as an Engineer, in a State
or Territory of Australia
2. High level ability to lead, manage and advise a diverse group of multi-disciplined resource teams on technical and para-
professional matters.
3. High level oral and written communication skills including the ability to effectively consult and collaborate and build
strong professional working relationships with colleagues, external clients, the community and industry representatives.
4. High level knowledge of road and civil industry, construction and maintenance techniques and practices, including roads,
land servicing and hydraulics, together with a sound knowledge of program and project management and government
procurement processes.
5. High level working knowledge of the requirements of the relevant legislation as applied in the NT or similar jurisdictions
as well as a range of relevant Australian Standards, Codes of Practice and associated Guidelines.
6. The ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures.
7. Current Driver’s Licence.
Desirable
1. Advanced Diploma in Project Management or similar.
2. Sound knowledge of business management and business drivers in a commercial environment
