About Us
Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.

The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) is a justice service that resolves a wide range of disputes for the Victorian community, including renting, planning, consumer, civil, administrative and human rights matters. VCAT is committed to delivering fair, efficient and affordable justice, with a strong focus on accessibility, service transformation and improving the experience of people who come to the Tribunal.
About the Role
Join a high-performing legal team and play a key role in supporting Tribunal members to resolve complex and significant matters.
As a Senior Legal Research Officer, you will provide expert legal research, analysis and decision-writing support across a diverse range of jurisdictions. Working closely with Tribunal members, you'll research complex legal issues, analyse legislation and case law, prepare legal memoranda and briefing materials, and assist with drafting high-quality written decisions.
We're looking for a highly analytical legal professional with outstanding research and writing skills, sound judgement, and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.

About You
You will bring:

Tertiary qualification in Law (Honours highly regarded)

Demonstrated experience undertaking complex legal research

Exceptional legal analysis, statutory interpretation and written communication skills

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Admission to practice and/or postgraduate legal qualifications highly regarded
