About the role
Opportunity to work as part of a dental team and provide a high standard of efficient and appropriate assistance and support as needed in the treatment of Metro North Oral Health Services (MNOHS) patients.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
Ability to prepare instruments and materials utilised in a variety of dental procedures including knowledge and understanding of the stages within a dental procedure and the ability to pre-plan and adapt as treatment proceeds.
Knowledge and ability to use FDI Palmer Notation, dental specific language, and terminology. Process and mount radiographs. Understand the use of radiography and study models as diagnostic tools. Assist in the prevention, identification, and management of medical emergencies.
Knowledge of all relevant standards relating to the dental facility. Maintain contemporary knowledge of policies and procedures relating to the provision of dental assisting including medico-legal responsibilities, ethical practice, codes of practice and relevant standards.
Ensure equipment and surgery satisfy Infection Control Standards through utilising standard and additional precautions, decontamination procedures, barrier wrapping, utilise protocol for managing blood and body substance spills. Ensure the use of Infection Control protocols and relevant standards for cleaning, disinfection, and sterilising reusable medical devices and for the disposal of surgery waste.
Provide a high standard of chair-side assistance to Dentists, Dental Specialists or Oral Health/Dental Therapists in clinical procedures by providing efficient and appropriate services.
