About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our growing organisation. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely reconciliations, and supporting the overall financial health of the business.
You will work closely with leadership to ensure financial processes are robust, compliant, and aligned with operational systems. Experience within service-based industries — particularly government-funded or regulated environments — will be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities
Core Bookkeeping Functions
- Manage accounts payable and receivable
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial records
- Process payroll in collaboration with HR
- Prepare and lodge BAS (if qualified) or support external accountants
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting
- Monitor cash flow and maintain financial controls
Billing & Reconciliations
- Reconcile service delivery data against invoicing
- Monitor funding utilisation and identify discrepancies
- Ensure accurate processing of claims and payments
- Investigate and resolve billing queries
- Maintain documentation to support audit and compliance requirements
Systems & Process Improvement
- Work within accounting software - Xero
- Ensure alignment between operational systems and financial reporting
- Improve automation and reporting efficiencies
- Support internal audits and external reviews
- Maintain strong financial record-keeping practices
Essential Experience
- Minimum 3+ years’ bookkeeping experience
- Strong experience in high-volume service-based environments
- Solid understanding of GST, BAS, payroll, superannuation and reconciliations
- Experience preparing documentation for audit and compliance reviews
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience within disability, aged care, health or government-funded sectors will be highly regarded.
Qualifications (Mandatory)
- Relevant qualification in Accounting, Bookkeeping or Finance (Certificate IV in Accounting & Bookkeeping or higher)
- Registered BAS Agent status is desirable but not essential.

Pay: $50.00 – $70.00 per hour
