About the role:
There are 5 roles available for this ongoing opportunity- please view position description of each role.
The role supports the unit in delivering performance oversight and system stewardship of area mental health services. Working closely with area mental health services and key stakeholders, the role contributes to strengthening system coordination, performance and continuous improvement to ensure Victorians can access timely, safe and high-quality specialist mental health treatment.
Operating within a dynamic policy and service delivery environment, the role works collaboratively across the department and with external partners to support ongoing improvement of mental health services. This includes working with services to address performance issues, identify system and service level improvement opportunities and support the effective delivery of new and existing services.
The role contributes to the monitoring and analysis of service performance, identifying emerging risks and system pressures, and supporting coordinated responses that strengthen accountability, improve service quality and drive system reform. The position plays an important role in ensuring services are delivered in line with policy objectives, funding agreements and departmental priorities.
The role requires strong analytical capability, sound judgement and the ability to work effectively within a complex service system.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities and engaging constructively with stakeholders to drive service improvement, strengthen performance accountability and support better outcomes.

About you:

Develops guidelines within the work area

Defines the appropriate methodology in the analysis of policy or research options

Prepares reports, briefs and correspondence on complex issues that impact at program or organisational level

Researches and applies advanced theoretical knowledge in a specialised field to operational problem solving

Leads a larger or complex corporate support work unit

Draft and develop material including the preparation of Cabinet and Cabinet related material, Ministerial and Secretary briefings and meeting papers, agendas, minutes and reports.
Qualification/Specialist Expertise

A tertiary qualification in fields related to public policy, health administration or business management is desirable.

An understanding of the Victorian health system, and knowledge of the department and its operating processes and information systems is desirable.
