About you
We are looking for someone with excellent communication, excel and accounting skills, have a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and outstanding attention to detail for a 12-month contract within our Finance team.
To be successful and thrive in this role you will have the following skills
- 2+ years administration experience gained from a professional services or financial services environment.
- Able to work under pressure and deal with a high level of responsibility and urgency - this is a strict deadline driven role
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and autonomously in a team-based environment
- Accuracy and timeliness of work performed
- Strong planning, time management and organisation skills that enable efficient workflow and accurate record keeping
- Tertiary education in Finance or Business is beneficial but not essential, together with experience in trust account management
- High level of enthusiasm and a positive approach
Your role
Key responsibilities relate to the management of all financial elements associated with the day to day running of the firms trust accounts. A strong understanding of the rules and legislation that govern the operation of legal trust accounts is pivotal to ensure compliance within the firm's internal processes and procedures.
Key responsibilities include:
- Receipting of funds received in trust to their correct trust ledgers (Direct deposits and cheques)
- Payments via electronic funds transfer, cheque or international money transfer
- Updating, monitoring, transacting and reconciling around circa 2000 controlled monies accounts in accordance with trust account legislation
- Understanding and operating the trust account, including trust to office journals and transfers
- Assisting in the management of the annual trust account audit
- Routine liaising with relevant banks
- Reconciliation of daily cash received
- Management of dormant balances in accordance with State Revenue Office requirements
- Daily trust account bank reconciliations
- Monthly controlled money account reconciliation including high volume interest processing
- Month end reporting in accordance with prescribed legislation
- Daily reports as required
- Ad hoc queries as required
