GRIFFITH, RIVERINA - MIXED
VETERINARIAN REQUIRED – Griffith NSW (Riverina)
- Salary package from: $90,000 to $150,000
- New, recent and experienced veterinarians welcome to apply
Yoogali Veterinary Centre is a six-vet, mixed animal clinic located in Griffith, located in the beautiful Riverina Region of New South Wales. We are looking for a vet (preferably FT, PT available) to join the team who are motivated in their job and keen to join a tight-knit and supportive team to deliver the best possible outcomes for our patients and clients.
Our opening hours are 8am-6pm Monday-Friday and 8am-12:30pm Saturdays. We work four days per week, so a weekly RDO can be very helpful to get those life jobs done or have a break mid-week. We share Saturday mornings in a rotating roster (1 in 4).
We offer an after-hours service (1 in 4). It is well-renumerated (50% of the professional fee and nightly on-call allowance). We find our clients do not abuse or take-for-granted this service, and it’s a good opportunity to save up some extra funds to save for a house, go on holiday, pay off HECs or whatever the heart desires! There’s always someone close-by to assist if you get stuck after hours – we won’t desert you if you need help!

The team
You’ll be joining Jess Dalton (director; CSU2013; FT), Courtney Simkin (director; CSU2013; FT), Kim Martel (50 years’ experience!; PT), Alice Lee (JCU2024; FT), Hannah Gardner (CS2020; PT), and Jill Headon (CSU2015; PT. We are supported by six wonderful nursing staff and two fantastic receptionists. We are a close, supportive team, where cases are the clinic cases and no one is left out on their own.
We welcome new graduates and are enthusiastic to support them along the way – the first 1-2 years is intense, but the professional growth and development is exponential. Recent graduates or experienced vets are also very welcome to join us!
The work
The clinic is small-animal heavy (nearly 90%). We pride ourselves on compassionate, gold standard veterinary care and offer a high level of service. We do a bit of everything – preventative health care, workups, hospitalisation, dentals, surgery (soft tissue and orthopaedic), emergency medicine and surgery and nearly everything in between. The case load is varied, and every day brings exciting new cases and challenges.
We do have equine patients, and do cases such as colics, sick horses, euthanasias, ophthalmology, stitch ups, and lameness work ups - basic ambulatory work. Kim also does geldings. We also had a portable DR Xray. Kim also attends racing events.
We are located in a sheep and beef cattle producing area. We see occasional production animal cases such as sick calves, lame bulls, lumps and bumps, occasional calvings, uterine and cervical prolapses. We support LLS at times and get to do a few farm visits or sheep post-mortems from time to time.
Kim and Courtney also regularly bleeds rams for Brucellosis accreditation. We service a little town called Hillston (1 hr away) every fortnight and often there are property visits on the return trip.
The clinic is only six years old, is very large (the photos are worth viewing) and is very well equipped:
- Four LARGE consult rooms (including euthanasia room, and dedicated cat room – with scales). Consults run from 8:30-12pm; and begin again in the afternoon between 2:30-5:00.
- Large surgery suite, capable of two surgeries at a time (we usually schedule 3-4 routine surgeries and 1 dental/day).
- Designated dental room, with dental x-ray; VetTome and iM3 equipment.
- Comprehensive suite of IDEXX diagnostics.
- Designated imaging room, with ultrasound, DR Xray and new endoscope.
- Large dog ward, small dog ward, and cat ward.
- Very large backyard with stables, large lawns, large driveway, with capacity for horse floats to enter and turn around.
- All the usual toys to make the job and the days run smoothly.
What we can offer you
- Competitive salary package (with competitive after-hours renumeration)
- Paid gym membership
- Paid annual study leave and continuing education allowance
- Three months’ accommodation at a two-bedroom unit located a 3-minute drive (or 10 minute walk) from the clinic.
- Time – for consults, pressure-free surgeries, to write up your records, to take lunch breaks, and to leave on time.
- Help – from the vets where needed, and usually 2 vet nurses per vet for assistance in your cases.
- A supportive team who wants you to love where you work and grow and achieve in your work.
A bit about Griffith…
Griffith is an inland city (30,000 locals very well serviced, airport supporting two airline carriers – Rex and Qantas; and three traffic lights!) Despite its colourful past, it had evolved into a thriving, multicultural city known for its Italian heritage, agriculture, manufacturing, wine (did we mention wine?) and genuine people. New employees are encouraged to join sporting or community groups to really get a feel for this welcoming town.
