South Metropolitan Regional Education Office are seeking to establish a pool of Administrative Assistant for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2026 and up to the end of July, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
The South Metropolitan Education Region was established as part of the Government’s regionalisation initiative to strengthen local decision-making and empower school communities by providing principals and staff with greater input into how regional services are delivered and utilised. The South Metropolitan Education Regional Office, located in Beaconsfield near Fremantle, provides support and services to 268 public schools across the region. The Region supports approximately 139,000 students enrolled in compulsory schooling and works collaboratively with schools and communities to promote positive educational outcomes and effective service delivery.
The Role
The role provides administrative support to the Regional Office by undertaking a range of clerical, research and operational support tasks in a timely and efficient manner. Responsibilities include processing incoming and outgoing correspondence and enquiries, drafting routine responses, preparing basic reports, and supporting the day-to-day administrative functions of the office.
The position is responsible for maintaining and administering databases, records and management information systems, as well as ensuring accurate and effective corporate filing and recordkeeping practices. The role also supports office operations through ordering supplies in accordance with relevant Common Use Arrangements (CUAs), processing accounts, undertaking credit card reconciliations, and preparing financial reports as required.
The role liaises with senior officers, Department staff, external agencies and members of the wider community to support effective communication, service delivery and administrative operations across the Regional Office.
