As an integral part of the Centre Leadership Team, the Assistant Venue Manager acts as a strong, team-oriented community liaison while overseeing and supporting critical operational aspects of the recreation and aquatic centre.
About The Venue:
Summit Aquatic and Recreation Centre is a new, modern, inclusive community hub offering yearround indoor swimming featuring a 25meter competition pool, warm water pool, learntoswim and splash play pool, a 24/7 gym, reformer Pilates studio, group fitness studio, café and welcoming spaces for all ages and abilities.
We are on the hunt for an outstanding people leader to coach, inspire and lead the team as their Assistant Venue Manager at Summit Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
About The Role:
The role focuses on helping to deliver guest-focused outcomes first and foremost and will take ownership over aquatic services, health club, café, and creche. Working closely with the Venue Manager to deliver against KPIs and contractual outcomes, supporting team leadership and daytoday facility management. This requires the position holder to lead by example and hold a range of diverse people skills and dynamic capabilities.
You will work in collaboration with the Centre Manager to develop and manage our customer journey ensuring growth, retention and profitability through the development of channel strategies, customer insights and the implementation of local and national sales through lead generation plans. The Assistant Venue Manager position will be the eyes and ears for the Venue Manager by demonstrating exceptional leadership qualities, a high level of integrity and commitment to their team members and the local community.
Our leaders demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, resilience, and ability to accept feedback. This role may require the successful incumbent to work weekends and some additional hours during peak seasonal periods.
About You:
You’re a handson leader with a genuine passion for health, leisure or fitness who isn’t afraid to roll up your sleeves to keep operations running smoothly. You thrive in fastpaced environments, juggle competing priorities with ease, and balance calm, reactive problemsolving with proactive planning and a visionary for continuous improvement.
Prior experience in industry sectors such as Health, Fitness, Aquatics, Hospitality, Tourism, Retail or Business is looked on favourably. You will be a proven team leader or people management and have an overall ability to lead, motivating a team and developing others.
About The Responsibilities:

Management of large Aquatic services and Health and Fitness team, ensuring that the team of site staff are operating effectively to deliver a safe, patron friendly site always open for use.

Management of sales, retention, guest experience, customer service and health and fitness. Plus, ensuring that patron feedback is acted on.

Support the GoSwim Coordinator by overseeing the swim school, including bookings and program coordination.

Provide key support to the Guest Experience Coordinator by overseeing daily guest service operations and retail management.

Support the Health Club Coordinator by overseeing daily health club operations and group fitness scheduling.

To assist and support the Centre Manager in the growth of the membership base at the centre by generating leads whilst ensuring to provide professional service to both existing and prospective members

Ability to work some weekends.
Key Skills:

Demonstrated leadership experience

Financial management, particularly around sales and growth of memberships

HR management experience

Working with Children check* (or equivalent), National Police Check*

First Aid Certificate*, CPR Certificate*
- Or be willing to obtain
Desired Qualifications:

Pool Lifeguard Certificate

Aquatics industry experience

Aquatic Technical Operator certificate or equivalent
