The role
As a Project Officer, you will be a key contributor within a high‑performing team supporting the delivery of priority business and ICT projects for the Business Engagement Branch. You will support strategic and operational planning by providing high‑quality project support, coordination and advice across the Directorate. This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of initiatives and play a meaningful part in strengthening project delivery and governance practices within the Department.
You will use your experience in project governance, reporting and analysis to support project teams and senior stakeholders. Your work will include maintaining the project management framework and tools, supporting benefits identification and tracking, and contributing to Gateway review activities. You will work closely with the Manager Portfolio Operations and engage with internal and external stakeholders, including the Department of Finance and the PMO. Through strong judgement, collaboration and a focus on continuous improvement, you will help ensure projects are well governed, compliant and focused on delivering measurable business outcomes.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a permanent appointment, applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia at the time of application. Applicants with a valid visa to work and live in Australia for a specific duration may be assessed and considered suitable for similar fixed term vacancies that arise.
To be eligible for fixed term employment you must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia or have a valid visa to live and work in Australia for the duration of the fixed term employment at the time of application.
Should a qualification be required for this position, applicants must provide their certification and/or academic transcripts to verify relevance to the job requirements. Qualifications obtained outside of Australia must be provided with an assessment from the Overseas Qualifications Unit to ensure they meet Australian Standards (this is a free service).
To work for LGIRS, you must consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a clearance before you start. If deemed suitable, LGIRS will coordinate and pay for your NCCHC as part of your pre-employment checks.

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience within a project or program administration environment together with experience in the development and implementation of program/project management frameworks, governance, policy, processes, systems and procedures.
- Experience or certification in project management.
- Highly proficient with MS Office for researching, analysing and presenting information succinctly to stakeholders across all levels.
- Demonstrated understanding and practical experience in supporting Benefits Management, Risk Management and Assurance activities.
