Venue Manager | Bar Bruno
Bar Bruno is Odd Culture Group's neighbourhood Osteria on York Street, serving house-made pasta, pork cotoletta bigger than the plate, classic Italian hospitality and a wine list that leans proudly Italian.
Located above Razz Room and in the heart of the CBD, Bar Bruno is part of one of Sydney's most exciting hospitality precincts — and we're looking for the right Venue Manager to lead it.
This isn't a role for someone who wants to sit in the office and manage from behind a spreadsheet. We're looking for a hands-on hospitality leader who loves being on the floor, knows how to build a strong team and can take real ownership of a venue.
The Role
As Venue Manager, you'll lead the day-to-day operation of Bar Bruno and be responsible for creating a consistently excellent experience for both guests and the team.
You'll work closely with the wider Odd Culture Group leadership team while taking ownership of service, people, culture and performance within the venue.
What you'll do
- Lead and oversee lunch and dinner service with confidence, energy and a calm head.
- Build, coach and develop a strong front-of-house leadership and floor team.
- Create a positive, high-performing team culture where people support each other and take pride in their work.
- Take ownership of daily venue operations, including service flow, rostering, labour and operational standards.
- Drive exceptional guest experiences and maintain consistently high service standards.
- Work closely with the kitchen, bar and wider group leadership teams.
- Manage recruitment, onboarding and development of your team.
- Ensure compliance with RSA, licensing requirements and company standards.
- Be hands-on, visible and present — particularly when the venue needs you most.
We're looking for someone who
- Has previous Venue Manager experience, or is an exceptional Assistant Venue Manager ready to step up.
- Has experience leading teams in busy, high-quality restaurants or hospitality venues.
- Is organised, commercially aware and operationally strong.
- Leads from the front and is comfortable making decisions.
- Knows how to balance high standards with warmth and personality.
- Can build strong relationships with their team and create an environment people genuinely want to work in.
- Communicates clearly, honestly and directly.
- Has a genuine passion for hospitality and wants to keep growing in the industry.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who understands that great venues are built by great teams.
Why Bar Bruno?
Bar Bruno is all about big plates, generous hospitality and creating the kind of neighbourhood restaurant people want to come back to.
You'll have the opportunity to take real ownership of the venue, work with an experienced leadership team and help shape the next chapter of one of Odd Culture Group's growing venues.
Why Odd Culture Group?
We're an independent, pokie-free hospitality group behind venues including Bar Bruno, Razz Room, Bistro Grenier and Pleasure Club, with more happening across the group.
We're growing, and we want to work with people who want to grow with us.
This is a genuine opportunity to take ownership of a venue, build a team and have a real impact — with the support of a wider hospitality group behind you.
If you're an experienced Venue Manager — or a strong hospitality leader ready for the next step — we'd love to hear from you.
