About the opportunity
Buddy Advisory is pleased to be partnering with ERIAS, a boutique strategic environmental and social impact assessment consultancy specialising in project approvals across the renewable energy, resources and infrastructure sectors. ERIAS is renowned for its deep expertise in complex, challenging field environments such as Papua New Guinea, and for its work in deep sea mining.
With 40 people across Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and Brisbane, plus local experts and contractors in key locations like PNG, ERIAS has just kicked off a five-year strategic growth plan set to double the business in both revenue and people. ERIAS is now looking for a People & Culture Manager to build and lead the P&C function from the ground up, reporting to the Managing Director and sitting on the senior leadership team.
What you'll be doing
This is a stand-alone P&C role with the scope to shape the culture and people operations of a passionate, technically brilliant and environmentally conscious business as it scales. You won't be doing it alone: you'll be supported by ongoing mentoring from a highly experienced external P&C Executive, with access to a significant library of IP and people methodologies ready to put to work.
You'll own the full remit, from culture and capability to policy, employee relations, safety, workforce planning, remuneration and talent attraction, building the systems and practices that let ERIAS's people and its growth plan thrive together.
What we're looking for
Shape and implement a culture development plan that drives an employee-centric environment, celebrates excellence and supports ERIAS's five-year growth strategy, using engagement survey data to guide change alongside practice and state leaders
Develop common-sense, fit-for-purpose policies that support employees in their day-to-day work, including in demanding field environments
Roll out a "leader as coach" performance practice built on real-time feedback and accountability rather than old-world annual reviews, and partner with technical leads to build capability across specialist disciplines
Ensure employment practices comply with federal and state legislation, and lead a proactive health and safety culture across all jurisdictions, working closely with ERIAS's Safety Coordinator
Lead workforce and succession planning to support growth in both leadership and specialised technical roles
Own remuneration strategy, including benchmarking and salary reviews, to keep ERIAS competitive in the talent market
Build a compelling employee value proposition and lead talent attraction, working with ERIAS's recruitment partner to build market maps and talent pools that reduce time to fill technically challenging roles
Optimise ERIAS's HRIS (Employment Hero) to simplify people practices and give the Directors the reporting they need to manage the business's growth
What you bring
5+ years' experience as a People & Culture Business Partner in a technically complex business, ready to take the next step and lead your own function
Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to read people and market data to drive decisions
Solid experience in employee relations, award interpretation and a strong grasp of federal and state employment legislation
Experience managing workplace health and safety compliance and return to work processes
A track record of automating and simplifying people practices through a modern HRIS
A coaching style that builds trust and influence with Directors, team leads and team members alike
A willingness to travel to ERIAS's different locations, with the initiative and pragmatism to thrive in a complex, growing business
A Bachelor's degree in human resources management, organisational psychology or a related discipline
Why ERIAS
Build and own a stand-alone P&C function from the ground up, backed by ongoing mentoring from an experienced external P&C Executive and a ready-made library of IP and methodologies
Be part of ERIAS's five-year growth strategy, set to double the business in both revenue and people
Join a close-knit, technically brilliant and environmentally conscious team where your expertise is genuinely valued
Sit on the senior leadership team, reporting directly to the Managing Director
Make a tangible impact on projects across renewable energy, resources and infrastructure in Australia and the Pacific
