The Colorectal Surgery Provisional Fellow position at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) offers an outstanding opportunity for senior surgical trainees and emerging surgeons to further develop their clinical, operative and leadership skills within a busy tertiary referral centre.
Working closely with specialist Colorectal Surgeons and multidisciplinary teams, the Provisional Fellow plays a key role in the management of patients with a broad range of benign and malignant colorectal conditions. This includes involvement in outpatient clinics, inpatient care, multidisciplinary meetings, perioperative management, emergency presentations and operative procedures.
RNSH provides exposure to a diverse and complex case mix, including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, pelvic floor disorders, anorectal conditions and advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques. Fellows gain valuable experience in both elective and emergency colorectal surgery while contributing to high-quality, patient-centred care.
As a tertiary referral and academic health service, RNSH offers a strong culture of education, research and innovation. Provisional Fellows are encouraged to participate in teaching, quality improvement activities, clinical audits and research projects, while working alongside experienced consultants and trainees in a supportive learning environment.

What you'll be doing
The purpose of the position is for the fellow to develop an understanding of the principles and practice of Colorectal
Surgery as practiced in a tertiary referral centre, providing an opportunity to perform or supervise in excess of 250 major colorectal cases and gain expertise in surgical techniques associated with Colorectal surgery.
