Primary objective
Provision of technical expertise in providing maintenance and repair services to the NT Police (NTP) and NT
Emergency Service (NTES) marine fleets. This includes servicing and maintenance to vessel hulls, outboard motors,
vessel electrical systems and vessel trailers.
Context statement
The applicant will have relevant and current experience in maintaining marine equipment and propulsion systems that
operate in remote high tempo, high demand environments.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Responsible to the Workshop Manager Fabrication and Marine for scheduling and performing the servicing and
maintenance of all NTP and NTES marine assets including testing, diagnosis, and rectification of faults in all vessel
systems.
2. Ability to diagnose and repair electrical and hydraulic faults in modern vessel systems.
3. Carry out routine safety inspections and water testing of NTP and NTES marine assets.
4. Maintain accurate workshop documentation including completion of maintenance work, recording of costs and
documentation of spare parts usage.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. A recognised qualification as a marine equipment maintainer
2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the provision of marine repairs and fault diagnosis.
3. A current NT driver’s licence with manual transmission endorsement.
4. Ability and willingness to travel to and from remote and very remote communities as required in light aircraft or
4WD.
Desirable
1. Current NT forklift license.
2. Coxswain Grade 2 or greater qualification
3. Medium Rigid NT drivers licence
Further information
The successful applicant must have no significant criminal record confirmed by a Police criminal history check. This
position also requires the successful applicant to travel by road and air to remote parts of the NT to effect repairs on
marine assets.
