Yolk Café Walkerville is looking for a motivated and reliable Commis Chef to join our kitchen team.
We operate one of Adelaide's busiest café kitchens and are looking for someone who wants to develop their skills in a fast-paced, professional environment.
This role is ideal for a chef who already understands kitchen fundamentals and wants to continue improving their speed, consistency, organisation and ability to perform under pressure.
What You'll Be Doing
- Opening the kitchen from 6:30am alongside other full-time chefs
- Setting up your section and preparing the kitchen for service
- Learning and executing all prep tasks to Yolk standards
- Cooking independently during quieter periods
- Working as part of a team during peak service periods
- Maintaining a clean and organised workstation
- Plating dishes consistently and to a high standard
- Assisting with deliveries and stock organisation
- Cleaning equipment, range hoods and kitchen areas as required
- Supporting teammates wherever needed to ensure smooth service

Our Expectations
Yolk is a high-volume kitchen. Services can be intense and maintaining standards under pressure is essential.
Successful applicants will be expected to contribute to maintaining an average docket time of approximately 12 minutes while producing consistent, high-quality food and supporting the wider kitchen team.
Hours & Conditions
- 38-hour working week
- Up to 4 hours of reasonable overtime as required
- Additional approved overtime accrued as Time Off In Lieu (TOIL)
- Weekend availability required
