About the Role
This is a full-time position for a skilled Painter & Decorator who takes pride in producing high-quality work and has strong knowledge of professional painting, decorating and surface preparation techniques.You will be responsible for preparing and finishing a variety of interior and exterior surfaces while maintaining a consistently high standard of workmanship.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling holes and cracks, removing existing finishes and ensuring surfaces are ready for application.Applying primers, sealers, undercoats and finishing coats to achieve durable, high-quality results.Applying paint, varnish, stains and other finishes using brushes, rollers and spray equipment as appropriate.
Mixing and matching paints and finishes to achieve required colours, consistency and finish specifications.Measuring and calculating surface areas and determining the appropriate quantities of materials required for each project.Protecting surrounding surfaces, fixtures, flooring and furnishings before commencing work.
Applying decorative and specialist finishes in accordance with project requirements.
Preparing and finishing interior and exterior walls, ceilings, doors, trims and other building surfaces.
Reading and interpreting plans, specifications, colour schedules and project requirements.
Identifying surface defects and undertaking appropriate preparation and repair work before applying finishes.Erecting and safely using ladders, trestles, scaffolding and other access equipment where required.
Operating and maintaining painting tools, spray equipment and other trade equipment.Working efficiently to project schedules while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
Maintaining clean, organised and safe work areas and following workplace health and safety requirements.Working effectively both independently and as part of a team across multiple project environments.
Communicating professionally with supervisors, other trades and clients where required.
Skills & ExperienceTo be considered for this position.
Applicants should have:
Relevant qualifications in Painting and Decorating or equivalent trade experience.
A minimum of 1 year relevant painting and decorating experience in high end residential projects.
Strong knowledge of surface preparation and professional painting techniques.Experience applying a range of paints, coatings and decorative finishes.
Ability to use brushes, rollers and spray equipment confidently.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes.Ability to interpret job specifications and determine appropriate materials and preparation methods.Good time management and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently as well as within a team.Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.A reliable and professional approach to work.
