CM Laboratories Pty Ltd is a growing Australian manufacturing business operating within the Pharmaceutical Animal Healthcare industry. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Research & Development Manager to lead and oversee the company’s research and development activities, supporting innovation, product development, and continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the company’s research and development activities in line with business objectives and regulatory requirements
- Oversee the development and optimisation of new and existing formulations from concept through to commercial manufacture
- Provide technical leadership across formulation development, analytical method development, validation, and troubleshooting activities
- Manage laboratory operations across Quality Control and R&D functions
- Support scale-up activities, pilot batches, process optimisation, and technology transfer into manufacturing
- Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovation opportunities relevant to the animal healthcare and pharmaceutical manufacturing sectors
- Ensure all laboratory and R&D activities comply with GMP, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, and supporting documentation
- Supervise and provide technical guidance to laboratory personnel and support staff
- Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Production, Sales, and Marketing teams to support business growth and product development initiatives
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives relating to product quality, operational efficiency, and cost optimisation
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, or related discipline (PhD highly regarded)
- Extensive experience within pharmaceutical, animal healthcare, or related manufacturing and research environments
- Demonstrated experience in product development, laboratory operations, analytical methods, and technical problem-solving
- Strong knowledge of GMP and regulated manufacturing environments
- Proven ability to provide technical leadership and supervise laboratory personnel
- Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills
