About us
Interested in building what comes next in insurance? At Blue Zebra we’re building an underwriting agency built on a foundation others can’t replicate: deep specialist judgement working in seamless concert with modern platform capability. We deliver smarter solutions, broader cover and greater value for individuals, families, businesses and farms across Australia.
We’re also building a workplace shaped by the same principles – clarity, confidence and connection. Our people are trusted to take ownership, apply sound judgement and work together to solve complex problems, creating better outcomes for brokers and partners. With an ambitious and collaborative culture, Blue Zebra is a place where you can make an impact, grow your career and help shape what we’re building together.
About the role
As a Junior Underwriter, you’ll play an important role in supporting our underwriting team while building your technical expertise across Commercial and Personal Lines products. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in underwriting. You’ll receive hands-on experience, coaching and development while gaining exposure to a broad range of insurance products, underwriting processes and broker relationships.
Key duties include:
- Responding to broker and customer enquiries via phone, email and live chat, delivering exceptional service and meeting agreed service standards.
- Assessing underwriting referrals within delegated authority and in line with underwriting guidelines.
- Assisting with new business, renewals, endorsements, cancellations and policy amendments.
- Escalating risks and referrals that fall outside delegated authority to senior underwriting team members.
- Maintaining accurate records and case notes across business systems.
- Building strong relationships with brokers, customers and internal stakeholders.
- Supporting service, quality and portfolio growth objectives across the underwriting team.
- Developing technical underwriting knowledge through training, coaching and on-the-job learning.
- Ensuring all activities comply with underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Assisting with operational activities, process improvements and team initiatives as required.
