The Community and Family Support (CAFS) program is a free, early-intervention initiative designed to link families and young people facing difficult circumstances with local, community-based services. It provides case management, parental education, and social support to help navigate challenges before they escalate.
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join our team.
Reporting to the Specialist Lead, you will work with families experiencing complex challenges and support children and young people aged 0–17 across the Diocese of Broken Bay. The role includes supervising social work students and assisting with parent education programs. Flexible work arrangements are available after successful completion of the six‑month probation period.
To be successful in this role, you will be passionate in delivering trauma-informed, culturally safe, casework interventions and work alongside families and other services to reduce risk and strengthen safety.
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver trauma-informed case management and early intervention support to families.
- Respond effectively to crisis situations and mitigate risk.
- Conduct needs-based assessments and develop tailored case plans.
- Advocate for clients across housing, legal, and welfare systems.
- Provide outreach support and maintain accurate case documentation.
- Facilitate evidenced – based parenting groups.
- Supervise and mentor a social work student.
To Be Successful, You Will Have:
- A degree in Social Work (essential).
- 3+ years’ Casework experience in a child and family service (preferred)
- Experience supervising or mentoring Social Work students (desirable).
- Strong understanding of trauma, mental health, AOD, and DV issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- NSW Driver’s Licence and access to a fully insured vehicle.
