About the role
The Senior Analytics Engineer is responsible for transforming curated data into trusted, business-ready data products that support reporting, analytics, performance monitoring and decision-making across the organisation.
The role operates between Data Engineering and business analytics. It works closely with Data Engineers, Finance Analysts, Performance & Insights Analysts, business stakeholders and data owners to ensure that data made available through Microsoft Fabric is well modelled, clearly defined, quality-checked and fit for governed reporting consumption.
The role leads the design and maintenance of reporting-ready data products, predominantly from curated Silver-layer data through to Gold-layer datasets, dimensional models, semantic models and shared measures. It helps ensure organisational reporting is based on consistent definitions, reusable models and governed data products, reducing duplicated reporting logic and manual data handling
Design, develop and maintain scalable Microsoft Fabric data products and Power BI semantic models, transforming curated data into trusted, reporting-ready datasets and insights.
Translate business reporting requirements into robust dimensional data models, reusable metrics, DAX calculations and high-performing analytical solutions.
Ensure data accuracy and reliability through validation, reconciliation and data quality processes, collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders to resolve issues.
Support governed self-service analytics by providing trusted datasets, clear documentation, consistent business definitions and appropriate data access controls.
Collaborate across business and technical teams to deliver data solutions, maintain governance and security standards, manage releases through Git/Azure DevOps, and provide expert guidance to stakeholders.
Skills and Experiences:
About you
You will have:
Tertiary qualification in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Finance, Statistics or equivalent professional experience.
Demonstrated experience developing analytics-ready data products, dimensional models, semantic models or governed reporting datasets.
Practical experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI semantic models and DAX, including the development of reusable measures, reporting logic and business-ready datasets.
Strong SQL and dimensional-modelling capability, including star-schema design, facts, dimensions, conformed dimensions, data transformation and performance considerations.
Experience translating business reporting requirements, metrics and definitions into maintainable data models, calculations and documented business rules.
Working knowledge of Git and Azure DevOps for contributing to source-controlled development and controlled release of data products
