About the role
As a Technical Advisor – Water Quality, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the quality and safety of drinking water across the Aboriginal Communities Water Services (ACWS) region. Acting as the subject matter expert for water quality, you will lead the implementation of Water Corporation’s Drinking Water Quality Management Framework across the ACWS region, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. You will support water quality management processes and provide advice that ensures water quality operational objectives and outcomes are achieved.
Working closely with operational teams, regional service providers regulators, project stakeholders and customers, you will provide expert advice, guidance and training on drinking water quality matters. The role involves coordinating responses to water quality incidents, contributing to compliance reporting, and supporting the planning and delivery of projects that improve water quality outcomes. What you can expect with this role
-
Lead the implementation of the drinking water quality management framework and monitoring activities to ensure the delivery of safe, reliable and compliant drinking water across the ACWS region.

Act as a prime source of advice for the operations team and regional service providers on matters relating to water sampling and drinking water quality.

Interpret water quality data, prepare compliance and performance reports, and trends to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

Investigate water quality incidents, support water quality investigations, and work with operational teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Provide expert advice, guidance and training to internal stakeholders on drinking water quality, risk management and regulatory requirements.

Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, regional service providers government agencies, customers and operational teams to support compliance, resolve enquiries and drive positive water quality outcomes.
Your skills and experience
For this role, we are looking for great talent with:

Demonstrated experience in drinking water quality management, catchment management, environmental science, engineering or a related field.

Strong knowledge of drinking water regulations, compliance requirements and risk management principles, with the ability to identify and mitigate potential risks.

Proven ability to interpret data, investigate issues and develop practical solutions to support safe and reliable water quality outcomes.

Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively across operational teams, regulators and external partners.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience, presenting information and providing expert advice.

A proactive and adaptable approach, with strong problem-solving, planning and organisational skills and a commitment to continuous improvement, safety and customer service excellence.
