NoSound Acoustics & Constructions is a growing Melbourne-based commercial construction company delivering projects across Victoria.
We specialise in commercial fit-outs, acoustic installations, architectural finishes, external cladding systems, framing, plastering and general construction works. Our projects range from offices, schools and hospitality venues through to apartment developments, government projects and industrial facilities.
As our business continues to expand, we are looking for an experienced Leading Hand Commercial Carpenter to help lead our site teams and deliver high-quality projects.
The Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Leading Hand Commercial Carpenter who can lead from the front.
This is a hands-on role where you will work alongside the crew while coordinating daily site activities, maintaining quality standards and ensuring projects run safely and efficiently.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading small site teams and subcontractors
- Coordinating daily works and allocating tasks
- Reading and interpreting construction drawings
- Timber and metal stud framing
- Commercial fit-outs
- Suspended ceilings and bulkheads
- Door, frame and hardware installation
- Acoustic wall and ceiling systems
- Architectural wall and ceiling finishes
- External cladding systems
- General carpentry and finishing works
- Liaising with site supervisors, builders and other trades
- Maintaining quality control and ensuring work is completed to specification
- Ensuring site safety, housekeeping and compliance with company procedures
- Assisting with material planning and site logistics
- Mentoring apprentices and less experienced tradespeople
What We're Looking ForEssential
- Qualified Carpenter
- Minimum 6 years' commercial construction experience
- Previous experience as a Leading Hand or supervising small crews
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings
- Excellent knowledge of commercial construction methods
- Ability to plan work and keep projects running efficiently
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- White Card
- Current Driver's Licence
- Own hand tools and power tools
- Reliable, organised and takes pride in producing high-quality work
Highly Regarded
Experience in:
- External cladding systems (James Hardie, Cemintel, Weathertex, Hebel, WPC systems, etc.)
- Commercial fit-outs
- Acoustic wall and ceiling systems
- Timber and metal stud framing
- Suspended ceiling systems
- Plasterboard installation
- Door and hardware installation
- Working with project managers and site supervisors
- Programming daily site activities and coordinating multiple trades
