As our business continues to expand, we are seeking a commercially focused In-House Finance Lawyer to join our team. This role will provide strategic legal advice across our finance, lending, commercial, and corporate operations while ensuring compliance with Australian laws and regulations.
About the Role
As our In-House Finance Lawyer, you will work closely with senior management, advising on all legal matters relating to finance, commercial transactions, lending, compliance, and corporate governance. You will play a key role in protecting the company's legal interests while supporting business growth and strategic initiatives.
This position is ideal for a proactive lawyer who enjoys being part of a fast-paced business and providing practical, commercially focused legal advice.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on finance, lending, and commercial matters.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage commercial contracts and agreements.
- Prepare and review loan agreements, finance documents, guarantees, and security documentation.
- Advise on banking, lending, and financial services legislation.
- Ensure compliance with ASIC, the Corporations Act, Privacy Act, Anti-Money Laundering (AML/CTF), and other relevant Australian legislation.
- Support the business with corporate governance and regulatory obligations.
- Identify and manage legal, regulatory, and commercial risks.
- Provide legal support for business acquisitions, partnerships, and strategic projects.
- Liaise with external legal counsel, regulators, and stakeholders when required.
- Develop and maintain internal legal policies, compliance procedures, and risk management frameworks.
- Advise management on employment, commercial, and contractual matters where required.
- Stay up to date with legislative and regulatory changes affecting the financial services industry.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB or Juris Doctor).
- Current Australian practising certificate (or eligibility to hold one).
- Minimum 3–5 years' post-admission experience, preferably in banking, finance, commercial, or corporate law.
- Strong knowledge of Australian financial services and corporate legislation.
- Experience drafting complex commercial and finance documentation.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple legal matters simultaneously.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.

Pay: $71,059.35 – $155,758.76 per year
