Primary objective
Utilise specialist skills to implement Business Intelligence (BI) solutions for clients of Data Services. This position is heavily
involved in the design, development, testing and implementation of BI projects to support strategic and operational decision
making.
Context statement
DCDD Data Services was established as a result of the NTG Corporate Services Reform in 2019-20, to provide Business
Intelligence services across a range of NTG client agencies.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide advice and support in the delivery of Business Intelligence solutions.
2. Design, develop and maintain Business Intelligence semantic layers and database views.
3. Provide professional guidance, mentoring and advice to users of business intelligence systems.
4. Work collaboratively with the data warehouse and other stakeholders on the development and delivery of BI systems
designed and managed by Business Intelligence.
5. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in developing Business Intelligence (BI) semantic layers, particularly in the
SAP or Microsoft Business Intelligence platforms.
2. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of database concepts and implementation, including dimensional and
relational modelling, and Structured Query Language (SQL).
3. Sound understanding of data warehousing concepts and processes.
4. Highly developed interpersonal, oral and written communications skills, including ability to gather and discuss technical
requirements with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
5. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, prioritise commitments and meet critical deadlines while maintaining high
quality BI system design standards.
6. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest,
innovative and respectful.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or Data related field of study.
