1. Mission for the Role
The Technical Project Manager (AUS) supports customers throughout the fleet electrification lifecycle, combining EV charging infrastructure expertise with the delivery of our client’s Charge Management System (CMS).
The role provides technical leadership from early planning and concept development through infrastructure implementation, system onboarding and operational handover. During planning and design development, it acts as a trusted subject matter expert, advising on charging infrastructure and technology selection, electrical and communications requirements, site concept design, and depot and grid upgrade planning. It also supports tender evaluation and technical assessment, coordinates stakeholder and design-review workshops, reviews contractor designs and technical submissions, and identifies technical risks, gaps and constructability issues before they affect delivery.
Once charging infrastructure has been installed and commissioned, the role leads the transition into our client. This includes onboarding chargers and supporting site equipment, validating configurations and integrations, coordinating end-to-end testing and operational readiness, and guiding customers through training, process change and adoption of the new CMS.
Across this lifecycle, the Technical Project Manager is responsible for keeping projects commercially and operationally on track. They coordinate customers, contractors, OEMs and internal teams; oversee the commissioning and integration of our client equipment; and ensure that testing, documentation, compliance and handover requirements are completed to the required standard. The role also provides technical support when complex issues arise, contributes delivery expertise to bids and product discussions, develops capable local implementation partners, and uses lessons from each project to strengthen future delivery, customer onboarding and support.

3. Experience Required

Experience in Engineering, Procurement and Construction projects in the electric vehicle charging or energy sector, including design development, tender evaluation, contractor design review, technical documentation and commissioning.

University degree in engineering, such as electrical, electronic, control systems, telecommunications or a similar discipline.

Demonstrated experience troubleshooting across electrical, communications and networking, software and control-system disciplines.

Experience using control systems or energy management systems for monitoring and troubleshooting.

Experience building client rapport, acting as a trusted source of solutions and providing strong customer service.

Experience managing project delivery, including milestones, budgets, contract scope, resources, risks, reporting and operational handover.

6. Responsibilities and Tasks
-
Provide ongoing subject matter expert input throughout the planning and design development of fleet electrification projects, including review of electrical distribution, communications, networking and control-system requirements.

Develop site concept designs for EV charging infrastructure, including charger placement, electrical architecture, communications, metering and integration requirements.
-
Develop high-level cost estimates and technical inputs for charging infrastructure, depot and grid upgrades.
-
Act as a trusted adviser to customers and project teams during EPC delivery, providing technical assurance, tender evaluation and technical assessment, review of contractor designs and technical submissions, and guidance on infrastructure and charger selection.

Provide value engineering and technical optimisation to ensure solutions are safe, reliable, scalable and fit for purpose.

Own the transition from installed and commissioned charging infrastructure into our client, including onboarding chargers, meters, local controllers and networking equipment; validating data, configurations and integrations; coordinating end-to-end testing; and completing operational handover.

Lead customer onboarding and change management for the new CMS, including readiness planning, stakeholder communication, training, adoption support and coordination between customer teams, contractors and internal teams.

Lead project planning and execution, including defining milestones, managing budgets, managing contract scope, ensuring on-time delivery and invoicing, coordinating resources, and tracking progress against timelines.

Commissioning our client power meters, local controllers and networking equipment. This includes ethernet switches, industrial CPUs and related ancillary equipment.

Training and managing third-party partners to carry out installation and commissioning activities.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, coordinating with third-party vendors and OEMs to maintain operational uptime and customer satisfaction.

Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory, electrical, and safety standards across project sites.

Coordinate customers, contractors, design parties, OEMs and internal teams, driving accountability, resolving interfaces and maintaining alignment through design development and delivery.

Work closely with Software, Product, and Customer Success teams to align deployments with product capabilities and contribute field learnings to the product roadmap.

Provide Level 2 support for customer issues requiring technical input and escalating to Level 3 in cases where this is necessary.

Develop, refine and manage technical documentation, leveraging relevant material from prior projects. This includes inspection and test plans (ITPs), design and commissioning documents, site handover packages, document release controls, and responses to technical clarifications.

Support bid and proposal efforts, contributing technical input, risk assessments, and delivery plans to help secure new work.

Facilitate stakeholder engagement, design-review workshops, client meetings and status updates, coordinating customers, contractors and design parties while proactively identifying technical risks, gaps, constructability issues and mitigation strategies.
