We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and menu requirements.
- Preparing ingredients, including washing, cutting, measuring, and portioning food items.
- Monitoring the quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation.
- Ensuring meals are prepared and served consistently and within required timeframes.
- Operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, food preparation areas, equipment, and storage areas.
- Ensuring food is stored appropriately and in accordance with food safety requirements.
- Checking stock levels and assisting with stock rotation and inventory control.
- Minimising food wastage through appropriate preparation, portion control, and storage.
- Following workplace health and safety and food hygiene procedures.
- Working collaboratively with chefs, kitchen staff, and front-of-house team members.
- Assisting with the preparation of food for busy service periods, functions, and special events where required.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, applicants should have:
- Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery or a related field, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
- Previous experience of at least 1 year working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen environment.
- Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, food hygiene, and kitchen safety.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining consistent food quality.
- Flexibility to work across a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays where required.
Qualifications
Preferred: Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent/relevant qualification.
Applicants with substantial relevant industry experience may also be considered.
Pay: $75,000.00 – $84,466.28 per year
