At Hawthorn, we believe people deserve more than a random workout, they deserve to be coached, connected with and seen. Every session, every high-five, every "how'd that feel?" is part of that. It's why we exist and it's the standard every coach on our floor holds themselves to.
Coach. Connect. Care. That's our edge.
These aren't words from a poster on the wall, our team wrote them together and we hold each other to them every day.
We're a growing studio with an experienced Studio Manager & Head Coach, a hands-on Studio Owner and a coaching team that's been together for 12+ months and genuinely has each other's backs. You wouldn't be filling a shift, you'd be joining a team that already knows how to support a new coach properly.
Across casual hours (with the scope to move Part Time if everything fits), you'll connect with our community and other coaches to provide the best possible experience to our members. You'll provide detailed coaching and create an environment people want to return to.
With close mentoring from our Head Coach and senior coaches, you'll have the opportunity and support to hone your coaching craft.
This role centres on evening classes, approx. 5:00pm–8:15pm, Monday to Friday. Our other shift times are:
Mornings; between 5:00am - 10:30am
Saturday: between 6:15am - 11:00am
As you settle in and we get to know your strengths, there's real opportunity to progress further.
SAY HI FIRST - Every member, every time. The vibe starts with us.
COACH THE INDIVIDUAL, THEN THE PROGRAM - Programs don't create change, people do. Know their "why" and coach them to it.
PREPARE. EXECUTE. FOLLOW THROUGH - Know the program and movement well enough to demonstrate it. Set up right, coach it right, and leave the floor ready for the next coach. Members get the follow-up they deserve, every time.
OWN IT. MOVE FORWARD - Make a mistake, own it, learn from it - then let it go. Save the dwell for later. Same goes for each other: if someone's having an off day, we make it easy for them to say so, and we've got them.
BE THEIR BEST PART - Know the individual and why they're here. Take action to make this the best part of their day and a space they're excited to return to. Every time.
- Current Certificate III/IV in Fitness (or equivalent recognised qualification)
- Current First Aid & CPR certification
- Genuine availability for evening sessions, with flexibility for mornings/weekends
- The right to work in Australia
- You lead without waiting to be asked
- You're humble enough to take feedback and confident enough to own a mistake
- You show up consistent, even on the days it's hard
- You actually like people, coaching, and being part of a team and it shows
We'd rather hear this in your own words than guess from a resume. Include short answers to these with your application:
- This role is mostly evenings, with room to grow into mornings/weekends. What does your real, current availability look like?
- Our studio measures progress in how people feel, not just how they look. What does that actually look like in a session you'd coach?
- Tell us about a time you helped someone else succeed, even when it wasn't easy for you.
