Senior Project Engineer (Projects & Construction)
Who We Are
Zinfra is a leading partner in the design, build, operation and maintenance of Australia’s energy and utilities infrastructure. Delivering an annual portfolio of more than $1.2 billion, our work helps keep energy flowing safely and reliably to communities across Australia while supporting the nation’s energy transition.
With a workforce of more than 2,800 people, we deliver complex infrastructure, asset management and field services across Australia’s east coast. Our people draw on deep industry experience, an unwavering commitment to safety, and practical innovation to deliver the right outcomes for our clients and communities.
We're looking for a collaborative and people-focused Senior Project Engineer who is passionate about delivering essential infrastructure while building strong relationships and bringing out the best in those around them.
In this role, you'll work alongside multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex gas infrastructure projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You'll have the opportunity to influence outcomes, support others, and contribute to projects that positively impact communities.
About the role
Reporting to the Project Delivery Manager, you'll lead projects through their full project lifecycle—from planning and design through to construction, commissioning and project handover. You'll bring people together, coordinate competing priorities and help ensure successful project outcomes while fostering collaboration, safety and continuous improvement.
What you'll be doing
-
Partner with project teams, clients and contractors to successfully deliver a range of engineering projects on gas transmission assets.
-
Coordinate project planning, scheduling and resource requirements.
-
Support procurement activities and collaborate on technical evaluations.
-
Work closely with design, construction and commissioning teams to resolve challenges and achieve shared outcomes.
-
Promote a strong culture of safety, wellbeing and quality across all project activities.
-
Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
-
Monitor project progress, risks and budgets, providing clear and proactive communication.
-
Prepare project documentation and support smooth handovers to operations and clients.
-
Share learnings and contribute to continuous improvement across the business.
-
Help create an inclusive, supportive team environment where everyone can do their best work.
About you
You're someone who enjoys working with people just as much as solving technical challenges. You communicate openly, build trust quickly and thrive in collaborative environments where different perspectives are valued.
You'll also bring:
-
A degree qualification in Engineering.
-
Around five years' experience in project engineering or project management.
-
Experience delivering engineering, construction or infrastructure projects.
-
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
-
The ability to balance competing priorities while supporting your team to achieve shared goals.
-
An understanding of project governance, commercial contracts and risk management.
-
Knowledge of HSEQ requirements and a genuine commitment to creating safe workplaces.
-
Experience within utilities, particularly gas transmission or distribution, is highly regarded but not essential.
We champion and value diversity in life and work experiences, because broader perspectives strengthen our problem solving, decision making and ability to innovate.
