About the role
The General Practitioner with Special Interest (GPwSI) - Cardiology plays a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care for patients with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) within the Cardiology Department at The Prince Charles Hospital. As part of a coordinated multidisciplinary model of care, the role focuses on improving patient outcomes through timely diagnosis, integrated management and collaboration across primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare settings.
The successful candidate will assess and manage low-risk POTS patients, coordinate investigations and treatment pathways, support lifestyle and medical optimisation, and facilitate seamless transitions back to primary care. The role also contributes to service development, research, quality improvement initiatives and strengthening partnerships between specialist cardiology services and general practice.

Provide comprehensive assessment, management and follow-up of patients with POTS within a multidisciplinary and protocol-driven model of care.
Collaborate with cardiologists, allied health professionals and primary care providers to deliver coordinated, integrated and patient-centred care.
Support patients in the proactive management of their condition through lifestyle interventions, education and general medical optimisation.
Contribute to service improvement, quality activities, research and the development of clinical pathways and patient care resources.
Prepare clear clinical documentation, management plans and discharge summaries to support continuity of care between hospital and community settings.
