Bannister In Home Care is a leading provider of home care services dedicated to supporting older Australians to live independently and with dignity. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Finance team at our Head Office in Surry Hills.
About the Role
Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, the Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, analysis, and business insights that support strategic decision-making and organisational performance.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Accounting
- Prepare and analyse general ledger accounts.
- Complete monthly financial reports, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end processes.
- Prepare and lodge BAS and assist with FBT reporting.
- Monitor cash receipts and bank balances.
- Prepare quarterly financial reports (QFR).
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register.
- Process journals and financial adjustments.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Provide financial analysis and business insights to management and the Board.
- Participate in Stewart Brown benchmarking and industry reporting.
Compliance & Audit
- Support annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and reporting requirements.
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial systems and records.
Operational Support
- Assist with grant applications and surveys.
- Provide backup support for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions during leave periods or peak workloads.
- Undertake ad-hoc projects and reporting requirements.
bout YouEssential Skills & Experience
✔ Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent qualification.
✔ Previous experience as an Assistant Accountant, Accountant, or Senior Bookkeeper.
✔ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
✔ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
✔ Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
✔ Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
✔ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
✔ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Desirable
⭐ Experience in aged care, home care, or community services.
⭐ Knowledge of Aged Care Quality Standards.
⭐ Experience with aged care software such as Alaya or similar CRM/FMS platforms.
⭐ Experience with Home Care Package (SaH) billing and refunds.
⭐ Experience preparing QFR, ACFR, and benchmarking reports.

Pay: $90,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
