Oyster Cove is a premium waterfront restaurant and cocktail bar in Batemans Bay, known for its modern Australian menu, seasonal produce, and quality dining experience. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Chef to join our growing kitchen team.
About the Role
As a Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to prepare and deliver high-quality dishes while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, consistency, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items to a consistently high standard.
- Assist with the development and implementation of seasonal menus and specials.
- Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and WHS regulations.
- Assist with stock ordering, stock rotation, and inventory control.
- Minimise food waste and maintain cost-effective kitchen practices.
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team during busy service periods.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient work environment.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff when required.
Skills & Experience
- Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification).
- At least 2 years of relevant post-qualification experience as a Chef, or 3 years of relevant industry experience where no formal qualification is held.
- Strong knowledge of modern Australian cuisine and food preparation techniques.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
