About the role:
We are seeking a strategic and commercially driven Country Commercial Manager to lead category performance, revenue growth, and profitability across Avolta Australia's travel retail network. This permanent full-time leadership role partners closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance, and global commercial stakeholders to identify opportunities, optimise product performance, and execute the country's commercial strategy. Leveraging strong commercial acumen, market insights, and data driven decision making, you will influence business outcomes, lead a high performing team, and deliver sustainable growth across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Performance
Lead the development and execution of the country commercial strategy, driving sustainable sales growth, margin expansion, and overall business profitability.
Provide leadership to the Country Commercial team, ensuring a high-performing, commercially focused function that delivers exceptional business outcomes.
Analyse sales, inventory, and market performance to identify opportunities and drive growth.
Oversee category performance and assortment optimisation to ensure the right products are available at the right time.
Support supplier negotiations and strategic commercial initiatives where required.
Drive forecasting, replenishment, and inventory planning activities to optimise stock availability and working capital.
Coordinate merchandising, sourcing, and commercial planning for new store openings and refurbishments.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Build strong partnerships with Operations teams to ensure commercial initiatives are effectively executed in store.
Collaborate closely with Supply Chain and Marketing teams to align commercial priorities, promotional plans, and customer engagement strategies.
Partner with Finance to support budgeting, forecasting, and commercial decision-making.
Work with global and regional stakeholders to implement best practices and strategic initiatives.
People Leadership
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing commercial team.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Ensure alignment with company policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Build strong stakeholder relationships across all levels of the organisation.
Customer & Commercial Excellence
Support the execution of annual marketing and promotional plans.
Monitor customer trends and market insights to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
Drive initiatives that enhance customer experience and deliver improved commercial outcomes.
Ensure commercial activities align with broader business objectives and brand standards.
Experience & Specific Requirements:
5+ years experience in commercial, category management, retail or related leadership roles.
Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into action.
Experience leading teams and driving cross-functional collaboration.
Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing skills.
A customer-focused mindset and passion for delivering business growth.
Experience within travel retail, FMCG, consumer goods, or multi-category retail environments will be highly regarded
