The Opportunity:
As the Project Engineer, you will be accountable for the end-to-end delivery of capital investment, engineering improvement and manufacturing optimisation projects across SPC operations and external manufacturing partners.
You will identify opportunities, develop business cases, lead project execution and manage stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in compliance with SPC quality, food safety and engineering standards.
The role plays a critical part in improving manufacturing capability, operational efficiency, product quality, regulatory compliance and business performance through the successful delivery of engineering solutions and capital investment initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Capital Project Management & Implementation

Identify, scope and develop capital investment opportunities aligned with manufacturing capability, productivity, quality and compliance objectives

Develop project charters, business cases, technical specifications and execution plans

Lead projects through feasibility, design, procurement, installation, commissioning and closeout

Manage project budgets, schedules, risks and stakeholder expectations
-
Report project performance and progress to key stakeholders

Conduct post-project reviews and validate benefit realisation
Engineering & Technical Leadership

Provide technical leadership during equipment selection, design reviews and implementation activities

Lead engineering assessments and recommend fit-for-purpose technical solutions
-
Support manufacturing and engineering teams in improving reliability and operational performance

Maintain technical documentation and engineering records

Lead Management of Change (MOC) activities associated with process and equipment modifications.
Continuous Improvement
-
Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, optimise capacity and improve manufacturing efficiency

Apply Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies to project development and execution

Support operational teams in implementing sustainable performance improvements

Promote innovation, problem solving and operational excellence.
Stakeholder & Contractor Management

Lead cross-functional project teams including Operations, Quality, Procurement, Maintenance, Supply Chain and external partners

Develop strong working relationships with suppliers, contractors and service providers

Manage contractor performance, deliverables and project milestones

Influence stakeholders at all levels to support project outcomes and business priorities
Commercial & Financial Management

Develop robust CAPEX submissions focusing on spend & ROI

Track project expenditure and maintain accurate forecasts

Monitor project costs and manage financial risks and opportunities

Support annual capital planning and prioritisation processes.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
-
Demonstrate visible safety leadership across all projects
-
Ensure project activities comply with SPC safety requirements and contractor management standards

Conduct project risk assessments and safe design reviews
-
Ensure compliance with food safety, environmental, quality and regulatory requirements
-
Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation
-
Embed safety, quality and compliance into all project decisions
The successful candidate will have:

Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial or related discipline)

Project Management qualification desirable
-
Extensive experience (5+ years) in FMCG food and beverage product development and/or engineering roles

Strong understanding of food processing technologies & packaging systems.

Demonstrated success delivering engineering change and capital investment projects

Experience developing business cases and investment proposals
-
Proven experience managing contractors, suppliers and external manufacturers

Strong project governance, timeline and risk management capability
-
Experience leading cross-functional technical teams
-
Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, TPM and Continuous Improvement methodologies
