About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Toolmaker to join our manufacturing team at our Adelaide facility. Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, you will be responsible for the manufacture, repair, maintenance and modification of production tooling, jigs, fixtures and precision components that support our high-volume manufacturing operations.
This role requires exceptional attention to detail, precision machining skills and experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment to ensure production equipment remains reliable and efficient.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture, repair and maintain production tooling, dies, jigs, fixtures and gauges.
- Perform preventative maintenance and refurbishment of tooling to maximise production efficiency.
- Diagnose tooling faults and carry out repairs to minimise production downtime.
- Operate manual lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, cylindrical grinders and other precision workshop equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD drawings and technical specifications.
- Measure and inspect components using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, dial indicators and gauges.
- Manufacture replacement parts to tight engineering tolerances.
- Perform fitting, assembly and testing of tooling and production equipment.
- Carry out welding and fabrication work where required.
- Assist Engineering with continuous improvement initiatives to improve tooling performance, reliability and product quality.
- Maintain workshop equipment and ensure a safe, clean working environment.
- Complete maintenance documentation and comply with all company WHS policies and procedures.
Skills & Experience
The successful applicant will possess:
- Certificate III in Engineering – Toolmaking Trade (or equivalent recognised trade qualification).
- Current Australian Trade Certificate or recognised overseas equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years’ post-trade experience as a Toolmaker within a manufacturing environment.
- Extensive experience with manual machining including lathes, mills and grinders.
- Strong understanding of precision machining techniques and engineering tolerances.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment.
- Excellent fault-finding, problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
Desirable
- Experience within the automotive manufacturing industry.
- CNC machining experience.
- CAD/CAM knowledge.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Forklift Licence.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies.

Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, or 3.30pm -12am with reasonable overtime as required.
