Position Description:
Steiner Kindergarten Teacher, in our Spring Star room, full time, for ages 2-3.5 years, as part of a team of six educators, with 22 children each day.
- Four contact days and one day planning
- This is a lead Kindergarten teacher role (OR training and mentoring available for a less experienced teacher)
- Self-assessment performance appraisal annually, with regular informal meetings with Director
- 3-6 month probation period
- Lead and inspire your team with enthusiasm and excellent communication
- Your team meets every three weeks as part of a rotating roster and whole centre meetings are once per quarter (required to attend).
- Join the leadership team for collaboration and continuous improvement of practices to help build community
You can concentrate on your time spent with the children, program planning and the written observations of each child.
Be part of an energetic and dynamic team, 2 breaks per day, resources are provided willingly for your creative program for the children, inclusive 42 strong multi-cultural staff team, 10mins on tram to the city, 30-minute walk to the beach!
Position includes:
-Teacher Professional Development intensives with Kelly Ryan, Amy Saia and Patries Orange x 1 per year. Includes eurythmy, Goethean nature studies, text study, artistic activities and lectures. Course fees paid.
- Sydney Steiner College kindergarten teacher training (if needed for right person in training), centre helps with fees.
- Professional Development workshops with Lou Harvey Zahra
- First aid training provided.
- Other professional development of interest, as discussed.
- Strong full-time administration team to support you with the following:
Organisation of documentation and QIP, KIM data entry, producing class lists, rosters, staff recruitment, children's enrolments, all dissemination of parent and festival correspondence, emergency drills, full support during Assessment and Rating visits, parent education talks/workshop etc. Director assists with challenging conversations/situations with parents upon request.

Childrens Garden Kindercare has zero tolerance for child abuse and is committed to the protection of all children from all forms of child abuse.
Key Relationships:
The kindergarten educational leader works 2-3 days in your room to support and guide the program with you, supported by 2 other educators. Total seven educators in your room each day.
The position is accountable to the Centre Director and yourself. The Centre Manager and Office Manager are responsible for the day to day running of the centre and administration, and support teachers and room leaders to implement the program smoothly. All leaders and managers form the leadership team.
Key Selection Criteria:
* Early childhood Education degree or above
* Childcare experience, minimum 1-2 years
* 2 years Rudolf Steiner training and/or experience
* A willingness and ability to adopt Anthroposophical principles and engage in artistic activity
* A commitment to supporting and promoting the particular culture of the Childrens Garden Kindercare of inclusivity and enthusiasm for the work
* Knowledge of Educational Legislative and Compliance responsibilities of Kindergarten Teachers in VIC and the commitment to learning this in the Childrens Garden context.
* Valid Working With Children’s Check, VIT registration, National Police Check, Child Safe Standards training, First Aid Certificate
* Experience working as a team member and willingness to participate fully in a collegial workplace in a loving and accepting manner
* 2-3 references from prior employers.
* Right to live and work full time in Australia.
