Blue Shield Family General Practice – Kogarah, NSW
Blue Shield Family General Practice is seeking an experienced Senior Medical Receptionist / 2IC to join our small, established two-doctor general practice in Kogarah.
This is a part-time senior position suited to an experienced medical receptionist with a proven and stable employment history in general practice who is confident taking additional responsibility for supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the reception team.
POSITION
- Senior Medical Receptionist / 2IC
- Part-time – minimum 18 hours per week
- Practice hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm
- No weekend work
- Immediate start available
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Applicants must demonstrate:
- A minimum of two years’ full-time equivalent (FTE) employment experience in medical reception/general practice
- A proven track record of reliable and stable employment
- Strong knowledge of Medicare billing and general practice administration
- Previous responsibility within a busy medical reception environment
Part-time employment experience is welcome, provided the applicant can demonstrate at least two years of full-time equivalent relevant experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing reception and daily workflow
- Greeting and checking in patients professionally
- Appointment book management and appropriate appointment allocation
- Managing telephone calls and patient enquiries
- Medicare, private and third-party billing
- Processing payments and daily reconciliation
- Managing recalls, referrals, results and correspondence
- Maintaining accurate patient information and records
- Supporting and guiding junior and new reception staff
- Assisting with staff orientation and practice procedures
- Identifying and following up incomplete administrative tasks
- Supporting communication between doctors, nursing and reception staff
- Assisting the Practice Principal with day-to-day administrative matters
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and professional standards

This is a hands-on 2IC position, not a Practice Manager role. You will work closely with the Practice Principal while remaining actively involved in reception and daily practice operations.
REMUNERATION
Competitive remuneration based on experience, responsibilities and the applicable Health Professionals and Support Services Award classification.
Pay: $68,700.01 – $128,629.59 per year
