The role:
Our Hydraulic and Fire Engineering Group requires a Senior Fire Engineer to join our fast-paced, Integrated Buildings Division. You will be part of a close-knit team that are dedicated to the delivery of good service and technical excellence.
This role can be based in either our Sydney, Newcastle or Canberra offices.
With projects ranging from large commercial to public and private buildings, our team is involved in wide-ranging projects, including some of the largest private and public hospital works in NSW.
- Operating with an appropriate level of autonomy to deliver technically challenging projects, key components of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Project delivery across a wide range of projects including commercial buildings, residential developments, fit-out, aged care and educational facilities.
- The opportunity to deliver multiple challenging projects concurrently, including multi-disciplinary projects.
- Being a mentor for junior colleagues and go-to person across the Group.
- Working closely with a diverse client base, responding efficiently to client's needs, including attendance at meetings and inspections.
Attributes & experience you will bring:
We are looking for someone who wants to take control of their career and can successfully operate in a highly autonomous, yet supportive, environment. The following attributes and experience are required to be successful in this role:
- Proven experience, ideally 6-10 years across; fire protection evaluation, design of sprinkler and hydrant systems, alarm systems and gas suppression systems. (Relevant applications outside of this range will also be considered).
- Must have or be working towards FPAS and Class 2 accreditation for fire services.
- A full understanding of local and statutory regulations, including codes and standards, with an understanding of the principles of both fire engineering and fire risk assessments expected for this role.
- Previous work experience in a consulting engineering environment will be highly regarded.
- Accountability to set goals and drive to their fulfilment.
- Strong communication skills; able to speak and write clearly and concisely.
- Creative problem-solving skills to continually finds ways to overcome challenges and obstacles.
- Highly productive with both strong team ethics and the ability to work independently.
- Work collaboratively across various functional groups.
