We are seeking a highly motivated individual for the temporary position of Assistant Store Manager reporting to the Senior Manager, Merchandise based in our Melbourne office.
The Opportunity:
The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the setup and delivery of event merchandise stores at various events across the region. This role involves managing on-site merchandise resources, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining inventory control. The successful candidate will be able to enhance athlete experience, meet sales/profitability goals and manage tasks and staff effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support assigned events, including budget management, invoice submission, store setup, store hours, sales tax, trailer pack down, equipment rentals, and documentation for senior management review.

Support stores within assigned brands, including trailer movements, store oversight, load plans, signage, fixture purchasing, supply maintenance, and equipment rentals

Drive store sales through visual merchandising, customer-first service, and strong product knowledge.

Maintain a visually appealing store environment with appropriate housekeeping standards and product levels.

Promote excellent customer service by ensuring the team greets and assists customers and handles inquiries and complaints professionally.

Recruit, hire, and train temporary on-site staff, including managing paperwork and payroll documentation.

Work closely with the Marketing team to develop on-site merchandise strategies that drive sales.

Work closely with the Operations team on event planning, including store location and size, venue layout and flow, and logistics needs to support successful event delivery.

Execute store setup, including fixture build-out and product placement.

Operate the POS system and liaise with retail planning and technical support teams.

Handle cash, deposits, and end-of-day reconciliation, liaising with the Finance team as required.

Achieve shrink goals through product checks, cycle counting, and loss prevention practices.

Prepare detailed event store debriefs for post-event recap meetings.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Retail or customer service experience (part-time or full-time work experience) and experience in the apparel industry and/or event industry would be advantageous.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Physical & Equipment Requirements:
- Ability to safely operate or oversee the use of specialized event equipment, including: Heavy machinery, Forklifts, Trucks

Ability to move, position, transport, and install materials and equipment

Perform manual handling tasks, including bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching, associated with event setup, breakdown, and onsite operations.

Ability to stay stationary and/or move around the event site for extended periods of time, including during long event days, outdoor conditions, and uneven surfaces.

Ability to work in a variety of environments, including indoor and outdoor venues, and in varying weather conditions.

Ability to operate or assist with basic event equipment and tools as required for the role.

Extended work days and travel will be required whilst attending assigned onsite events.
