Disability Support Worker – Complex Support (Casual/Part-Time)About the Role
We are seeking reliable and compassionate Disability Support Workers to join a support team assisting an adult participant with complex support needs.
This role requires a person who is patient, respectful, responsible, and able to provide consistent support in a 1:1 environment. The successful applicant will support the participant with daily activities, community access, appointments, and maintaining a safe and meaningful lifestyle.
This position may begin with limited shifts, with the opportunity for additional shifts available for workers who demonstrate reliability, professionalism, consistency, and the ability to provide high-quality support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred disability support in line with the participant’s goals and support plans.
- Assist with personal care while maintaining dignity, privacy, and respect.
- Support community access, appointments, shopping, and recreational activities.
- Assist with meal preparation and daily household tasks.
- Support mobility needs and use equipment safely when required.
- Follow Positive Behaviour Support strategies and workplace procedures.
- Complete accurate shift notes, incident reports, and required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with the support team, coordinators, and relevant stakeholders.
- Identify and report changes in the participant’s health, behaviour, or wellbeing.
- Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times.
Mandatory Requirements
Applicants must have:
Checks and Compliance
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current Working With Children Check (where applicable).
- National Police Check (where required).
- Valid Australian Driver Licence.
- Reliable vehicle.
- Comprehensive car insurance.
- Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011 or equivalent).
- Current CPR Certificate (HLTAID009 or equivalent).
- Right to work in Australia.
Required Training
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module – “Quality, Safety and You”.
- Manual Handling Training.
- Infection Prevention and Control Training.
- Medication Assistance/Administration Training (or willingness to complete).
- Incident Reporting and NDIS Code of Conduct awareness.
- Positive Behaviour Support training (preferred).
Experience Preferred
Experience in the following areas is highly regarded:
- Supporting people with complex physical disabilities.
- Personal care support.
- Community access.
- Mobility equipment, hoists, or standing lifters.
- Behaviours of concern and implementing support strategies.
- Working alongside allied health professionals and support teams.
