About the Role
The Project Engineer – Terminal Station, supports the planning, procurement, delivery, testing, commissioning and handover of secondary systems for the project terminal station works. The role covers communications, SCADA, secondary cabling, protection, control systems, control room interfaces
and associated panels, equipment, drawings and documentation.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
The position coordinates designers, suppliers, subcontractors, commissioning teams and site crews to ensure secondary works are safe, constructible, compliant with project requirements, and delivered to the required quality, schedule and cost outcomes.
- Provide engineering support for the planning, design coordination, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning and handover of Terminal Station secondary systems.
- Coordinate secondary scope across communications, SCADA, protection, control systems, secondary cabling, control room fit-out and associated panels, marshalling kiosks, cabinets and field terminations.
- Review drawings, schedules, specifications, datasheets, cable schedules, termination details, protection and control documentation, and supplier submissions for completeness, constructability and compliance with project requirements.
- Support procurement and subcontractor management for secondary packages, including scope development, technical tender inputs, delivery tracking, technical queries, progress assessment, claims support and variation inputs.
- Coordinate site installation activities, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with approved drawings, ITPs, method statements, SWMS, hold points, inspections and quality records.
- Lead or support the resolution of technical queries, design changes, nonconformances and interface issues affecting secondary systems, escalating risks where schedule, cost, quality or energisation readiness may be impacted.
- Support IFAT testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning and energisation readiness, including documentation control, test records, punch-list closeout, as-built mark-ups and handover packages.
- Provide regular reporting on progress, risks, issues and key milestones, and contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives across the project.
Essential Skills / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Communications Engineering, Control Systems Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
- 3 - 5 years’ experience on projects.
- Demonstrated experience delivering secondary systems on high-voltage substations, terminal stations, transmission projects or comparable major infrastructure works.
- Working knowledge of communications, SCADA, protection and control systems, secondary cabling, panels, cabinets, marshalling, terminations, control room interfaces, testing and commissioning processes.
- Ability to interpret and review technical drawings, cable schedules, termination diagrams, schematics, logic diagrams, specifications, datasheets, ITPs and commissioning documentation.
- Understanding of construction quality systems, including ITPs, inspection records, NCRs, hold points, as-built records, handover dossiers and document control requirements.
- Commercial and contract administration capability, including procurement support, progress assessment, scope clarification, change management, claims support and forecasting inputs.
- Willingness to work site-based and travel as required to support Terminal Station delivery across the project.
