The purpose of the position is to provide effective medical services to patients, while developing expertise and skills
in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment in both inpatient and outpatient areas in the public health organisation.
Applicants are only eligible for these positions if they have an MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category. Applicants must have completed at least four postgraduate years, have successful completion of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Divisional Clinical Exam, or equivalent, and be eligible to undertake sub speciality training in Geriatrics Medicine in Australia.

The Advanced Trainee will provide effective medical services to patients under supervision while developing expertise
in geriatric medicine practice, in a complex clinical environment in inpatient and outpatient areas with Hunter New England Local Health District. Rotations may include Community Services, Orthogeriatrics, Psychogeriatrics, Aged Care Rehabilitation, Rural and Acute/Subacute Inpatients at John Hunter Hospital, Belmont District Hospital, The Maitland Hospital, Rankin Park Centre and Calvary Mater Newcastle.
