Senior Finance Business Partner
- Salary: $116,413 - $140,849 (Plus Superannuation)
- Work Type: Fixed term (external applicants) / Temporary Assignment (internal DJSIR employees) / Secondment (VPS employees external to DJSIR) (until 14 May 2027)

The Role
Business Partnering is responsible for managing all aspects of the Department of Jobs, Skills and Industry (DJSIR) budget. This relationship management involves key analysis of complex financial issues for senior management and development and review of cabinet and other funding submissions. The role supports the Executive Director, Finance, Investment and Procurement, and the Executive Board in driving financial management outcomes across the Group, managing risks and identifying opportunities for improved financial performance.
Main accountabilities:
- Deliver and take the lead in a range of activities associated with the on-going development, monitoring and reporting of DJSIR's budget and financial performance in accordance with agreed outcomes
- Demonstrate advanced analysis and financial expertise to advise/explain complex concepts, ideas and issues to facilitate strategic decision making
- Work collaboratively, utilising a strong working knowledge of DTF's SRIMS and departmental systems, with portfolio agencies and DTF to ensure that budget and reporting activities meet quality and timeliness requirements
The Team
The position of Senior Finance Business Partner forms a part of the Finance, Investment & Procurement branch within the Corporate Services group.
Corporate Services actively supports Ministers and DJSIR portfolio groups to create the conditions for sustainable economic development and employment growth.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- Conceptual and analytical ability: Deals with concepts and complexity comfortably; Uses analytical and conceptual skills to reason through problems; Has creative ideas and can project how these can link to innovations
- Stakeholder Management: Identifies issues in common for one or more stakeholders and uses to build mutually beneficial partnerships; Identifies and responds to stakeholder's underlying needs; Uses understanding of the stakeholder's organisational context to ensure outcomes are achieved; Finds innovative solutions to resolve stakeholder issues
- Financial skills: Excellent financial skills and demonstrated experience in budgeting and financial analysis. This includes the ability to clearly articulate the financial implications of policy decisions and/or other transactions and the provision of advice to senior management on budget and financial management issues to facilitate strategic decision making
- Specialist qualification: finance or accounting degree and/or professional qualification such as CA or CPA is highly desirable.
