THE ROLE
An exciting opportunity exists for a committed and passionate individual to join the Office for Youth as a Policy and Project Officer. The Youth Programs team is a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team that manages a variety of programs and funded initiatives aimed at strengthening youth engagement, building social cohesion, and supporting communities to build protective factors against youth disengagement and its consequences.
You will provide policy, project and program management support across a range of youth participation and early intervention initiatives. The role works across a variety of areas in the Youth portfolio to develop and deliver high quality advice to the Minister for Youth and senior executives on a wide range of matters of strategic importance, including initiatives that support improved outcomes for young people in Victoria. The role is also responsible for managing and administering Office for Youth grant programs and associated priorities.
We are seeking a flexible, proactive and well-organised team player with strong attention to detail and excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills who can build relationships across government communities, youth and other community sectors. The ideal candidate demonstrates an understanding of grants and program management, strong policy and analytical skills, and an interest in the issues impacting on young people across Victoria.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Work collaboratively to develop and manage the delivery of policies and projects that aim to address specific issues and to support the provision of accurate advice on complex matters related to the Office for Youth policies and programs.
- Manage projects and grant programs from inception to completion and contribute to the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives. This includes project planning, risk and contract management, stakeholder engagement and support, project monitoring, progress reporting and evaluation.
- Provide timely, comprehensive support, analysis and advice to managers and executives, and develop high quality written briefings to inform decision-making. This includes analysing and critically evaluating information and proactively identifying potential implications and risks of proposed policy options.
